Portugal is this summer's destination. Participants will gather in Lisbon on Wednesday, August 15 2018 for a 13-day tour tailor-made and personally guided by Gregory Edward, founder and CEO of VIP Private Travel. Gregory has put together this personalized itinerary for Emeriti Philharmonic travelers that will focus on the three most important things in life; music, culture, and food!
The maximum number of persons on this trip will not exceed twenty travelers.
From the day of your arrival to the date of departure, we have arranged a spectacular itinerary throughout Portugal. With visits to Sintra, Évora, Óbidos, Nazaré, the Douro River Valley and Pinhão, four days in Porto, then back to Lisbon.
This tour will offer an exciting overview of Portugal, organized by Greg to maximize your cultural and musical experience. Included are all breakfasts, several lunches or dinners, including a restaurant dinner and traditional Fado music performance, a meet and greet with a Portuguese pianist known for his recreation of the works of the composer Carlos Seixas, private tours of the Casa da Música and National Theater São João in Porto, and the National Opera House São Carlos in Lisbon, modeled architecturally on La Scala opera house in Milan.
Additional museum tours, together with presentations on the maritime history of the country, a tour of Lisbon's famous Navy Museum, and a casual evening sight-reading chamber music with our new musical friends in Portugal will forge memories and friendships to cherish for years to come.

Dan has lived most of his life in Santa Barbara, California, where he founded and conducted the Santa Barbara Youth Symphony while still in high school in 1965. Dan was the first conducting major at the California Institute of the Arts in Los Angeles (1970-73) where he studied with Lawrence Leighton Smith, former conductor of the Colorado Springs Philharmonic. In addition to many more accomplishments, he is video interview host to California's diverse arts community regularly at BravoCalifornia! and has just launched Performing Arts Review.net devoted to CD, DVD, and video reviews and interviews, worldwide.
Greg founded VIP Private Travel in late 2016 when he returned to live in Colorado. Opening doors others cannot, and ensuring private journeys second to none, Greg will personally guide Emeriti Philharmonic participants on a unique musical tour of Portugal. Originally from Michigan, he has lived in Michigan, Atlanta, Maui, and Los Angeles before moving to Portugal in 1997, where he remained until early 2016. He currently lives in Colorado.
